A free, open-source LaTeX and Typst editor for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Your projects are plain folders on your disk, the whole compile loop runs on your machine, and there is no account, no server, and no paid tier.

Install Typeward

Set it up on Windows, macOS, or Linux, or build it from source. The current release, v0.1.0, is a first public beta.

Your first project

Create a project from a template and compile it to PDF in a couple of minutes, in LaTeX or Typst.

Coming from Overleaf?

Import your Overleaf projects from a zip export or a git-bridge clone and keep working locally.

Learn the editor

Take the editor tour, or jump straight to visual editing and reference navigation.

Connect your tools

Put projects under git, sync them over WebDAV, pull citations from Zotero or Mendeley, or enable the optional AI assistant.

Typeward is MIT-licensed with the Commons Clause. Read what that means for you, and how the app behaves on the network: no account, no telemetry, and one update check you can turn off.
